Side note to my plan - I have AppleTV, so I’d use the feature of “screen mirroring” through that device to view FS editor & FS19 on my 50-inch HD TV. But I’d like to take a look at map making (though that may be something overwhelming when all I really want to do is satisfy my curiosity on various map-related things). I’m not interested in the “modding” aspect - I applaud those that are skilled enough to create the awesome mods. My idea was to let FS19 (and Editor) be what finally pushed me over the edge on getting a top-end MacBook Pro laptop that I’ve been procrastinating doing for the past several years - and wanting to mess around some with the Editor, to set up “Boot Camp” and Windows for that primary purpose. Thanks ‘Tiredasagiraffe” and “MagicMagor” for sharing your respective real-world FS19 experiences on how well you’ve found FS19 to run on your respective Mac setups. So, again, thanks ‘blue_painted’ (and thanks for the links and for the extra time/work involved providing them) and thanks ‘Tiredasagiraffe’ for the confirmation as well - and also including that it (Editor) won’t work on “virtual” setup (ie: Parallel, VMWare, etc.) - thus leaving “Boot Camp” as the only option. And I have no idea what site I was looking at that showed what appeared to be a MacOS version of the Editor available to download. I’m not overly shocked, but disappointed. Thanks for confirming that the Giants Editor does *not* work for Macs (in native MacOS form). Thank you all very much for your replies - all have been very helpful and informative - I appreciate it very much! Hope this helps you make a Tiredasaguraffe (Hi MagicMagor Giant's Editor will only run on Windows unfortunately, have pretty much gave up hope of there ever being a version for MacOS. I use this method for testing purposes when building maps in Giants Editor. Can't use very high settings or things grind to a halt but graphics/game quality is acceptable at mid-level settings.īought through Steam, the same copy of FS can run on both MacOS and Bootcamp - Windows. I currently run FS19 on a mid-range 2013 iMac. But, I hate assuming, so I’d still love to hear from anyone that’s actually tried using the Giants Editor on a Mac and if it truly worked or not. Of course, that’s no big deal - if one wanted to (for example) copy a file from one partition to the other - the file could be copied quickly/easily onto a flash drive and copied from one partition to the other, after rebooting to the other OS.įrom further searching about the use of the Giants Editor working on a Mac - seems like the site has a Mac 64-bit download version showing - which would give the impression that it is Mac-compatible. The 2 are completely separate - the Mac only recognizes the selected ‘partition’ - the two partitions (Mac OS & Win OS) are not integrated at all in any way with this setup. “Bootcamp” works by having 2 separate partitions on the same hard drive (the size of the 2 partitions can be specified when initially setting it up) - then you have one partition dedicated solely to Mac OS, and the other partition dedicated solely to Windows OS - with a possible slight performance loss on the Windows side of things - but once done - it’s sort of like having a Mac that’s running both OSX and Windows (or, some might say, giving the option & flexibility of having the best of both worlds perhaps) - depending on which (Mac or Windows) you wish to select when booting up the Mac. I’ve never actually used “Bootcamp” or any other similar option on a Mac before. Bootcamp Windows but then don't you have the issue of having your files on separate virtual disks? Many thanks in advance for any/all replies and info. I’m considering purchasing a current generation top-end MacBook Pro laptop - and perhaps using Mac’s “Bootcamp” to create a Windows 10 partition for Windows 10 - IF perhaps the FS19 Editor *only* runs on Windows and not Mac’s OS (I know FS19 game specs state it’s compatible for both Mac & Windows PCs, but I’m totally unsure about the FS19 Editor.)įor everyone’s sake, *please* don’t turn this into a “Mac vs Windows” PC war zone debate here. (3) Does the PC FS19 “Giants Editor” (sorry if that’s not the correct name for it) run on a Mac - or *only* on Windows? (2) Is anyone with a Mac laptop running FS19 on their Mac laptop via “Bootcamp” and thus with FS19 being run on the Windows 10 partition of the Mac laptop? If so, how well does FS19 run that way? (1) Is anyone running FS19 on a Mac laptop? If so, are you satisfied with how FS19 runs on it? A couple of quick questions for those running “Farming Simulator 19” on PCs.
